Gary has worked as a writer, photographer and editor for more than 45 years. His parents moved from New Hampshire to Longview in 1968 when he was nearly 13. The family lived on South Twelfth Street, directly behind the LeTourneau campus. Bill and Betty Kielhorn were their next-door neighbors. Gary spent many hours as a teen on campus, using the outdoor swimming pool, playing touch football and visiting the library. His passion and God-given talent are for writing. He has published four books and writse for various publications, most recently Texas Highways. Borders has spent hundreds of hours in libraries doing research, and considers it a blessing to serve as a reference librarian.
When not working, he is an avid reader (of course) and a committed CrossFit athlete.
“For I know the plans that I have for you,” declares the LORD, “Plans for welfare and not for calamity to give you a future and a hope.” – Jeremiah 29:11
